The Butler Boys - A Middletown Civil War Story

Ferdinand Van Derveer 35th Ohio Volunteer Infantry While writing this short story about the 35th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment from Butler County, that served during the Civil War, something very obvious occurred to me. Something that was true a hundred years ago and is still true today. Something that gives us as Middletown residents another memory in our collective past to be proud of. That being that great countries are made by great men and great men are made by great ideals and great sacrifice. The 35th Ohio by their service and sacrifice to preserve the Union are examples of that truth. They are examples that we should never forget. To read my short story on the 35th Ohio you can find it here on our Middletown Ohio Community Website.
